When Republicans attempted to march through Manhattan during the Presidential election campaign, the roughly 800 marchers were spit on and cursed at by Obama supporters and maligned by the media. Over the past two years however, historically liberal New York has been hard hit by Democrat sex and financial scandals, Wall Street dismantling, and the administrations dedication to making the Big Apple an even more attractive target to terrorists. The result has been a groundswell of conservative interest and activism with Republicans, Independents, and conservative Democrats joining together to protest the Obama regime.
On April 15th, a crowd of between 2,000 and 3,000 people protested against big government, out of control spending, and self interest promoting politicians at the James Farley Post Office in midtown. Tea Party protestors were met with cheers and support, their numbers growing so quickly that police cordoned off several blocks of 8th Avenue to accommodate them.
But it isn’t simply a case of citizens getting frustrated with the liberal agenda. Despite Obama’s attempt to make fun of the Tea Party movement and querying why Americans aren’t “thankful” for his anti-American policies, many politicians see the value in conservative activism.
The most popular Mayor in New York City history, three termer Mike Bloomberg yesterday applauded the Tea Party movement for encouraging political dialogue and public participation.
But Manhattan wasn’t alone in seeing an increase in Tea Party activities. All across New York State and in fact across historically liberal New England, people are evaluating the threat that the Obama regime poses to America and turning out by the tens of thousands to demand that American return to its fundamental, Constitution based roots.
